Online privacy matters to all of us. It’s particularly newsworthy today due to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a new EU law that comes into effect on May 25, 2018. This law protects the privacy of people in the EU, and applies to every company that does business with them.

What GDPR compliance means, in a nutshell

Compliance with GDPR means that the site owner needs to get consent from visitors before collecting and storing data, explain how collected data is used, and delete visitor data, upon request.

Does GDPR apply to your websites?

No, not necessarily. Only if visitors are accessing your site from the EU. However as a matter of best practice, we are applying it to all of our client websites.

So… what do you do now?

Nothing. But in order to comply:
- We will be adding a cookie notification to inform users that you collect their data
- We will be adding a privacy page explaining how information is collected by your site.
- We will be adding an explicit ‘opt-in’ consent to all contact forms.
